Electricity prices

Electricity tariff bands in Nigeria explained

NERC groups electricity customers into Bands A to E based on how many hours of supply an area gets. Band A gets the most hours and pays the highest price per kWh.

The five bands

Hours are the minimum average supply per day set by NERC.

  • Band A: at least 20 hours
  • Band B: at least 16 hours
  • Band C: at least 12 hours
  • Band D: at least 8 hours
  • Band E: at least 4 hours

How we use the band

Geomarins Meter follows the current NERC price for your building's band and DisCo, so tenants pay a fair price that covers the landlord's DisCo bill.

Questions

How do tenants buy electricity?

Tenants log in with their phone number, pick an amount and pay by card or bank transfer. The 20-digit token appears on screen and by SMS, and they type it into the meter's keypad.

How does the landlord get paid?

Each payment is split automatically. The landlord's share goes straight to their bank account, usually the next working day. Geomarins never holds the landlord's money.
